Sloaney Tech takes a look at some of the best new products that are available on the market. It also helps you to stay ahead of the game when it comes to updates that have occurred on existing products and apps.

Music is such a big part of our lives. Whether you are listening to music in the gym, enjoying the background tunes at one of the many events on the British Social Season calendar, or dancing the night away in your favourite bar.

When you can’t quite remember the name of that song that is playing in the background, or who wrote the track, the fantastic app, Shazam, has always been there to offer a helping hand.

This app has come a long way since its early investors showed faith in its future success. DN Capital, which is run by Nenad Marovac and Steve Schlenker, invested in the company back in 2004. It then went on to raise even more funds during the subsequent years by attracting a variety of different investors. In 2013, América Móvil invested a considerable sum of US$40 million in Shazam in exchange for an undisclosed. The predictions that the app would be a huge hit were correct and it later became part of the Apple family in 2018.

The app has been hugely successful, and it continues to stay ahead of the game. Its most recent update means that it is even more integrated with both Spotify and Apple Music than ever before. The most recently updated version of the app went live earlier this month on March 5th 2025.

Some of the enhanced features include a better syncing feature, which means that songs are automatically added to a playlist within your account on Spotify or Apple. This is very helpful for users and takes out the manual element.

In addition to being at the cutting edge of music recognition, Shazam is interesting to follow in terms of future hits, thanks to its ability to predict the sort of music that you will listen to in the future.
