British Social Season 2025: The Boat Race partners with CHANEL
Regularly attended by over 250,000 spectators and watched by many millions more on television annually, The Boat Race 2025 is due to take place on the famous Championship Course that stretches over 4.25 miles of tidal Thames in West London between Putney and Mortlake.
It is one of the earlier events in the British Social Season and a very popular sporting occasion. The event will take place in April and follows Cheltenham Festival, Aintree and Salon Prive.

This year’s Boat Race is also one of the most historic to date, following the announcement of a long-term partnership between The Boat Race and CHANEL, who have become both Title Sponsor and official Timekeeping Partner of the event.
The world-famous sporting event between the crews from the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge now spans 185 years of rivalry and The Boat Race has become synonymous with British tradition and excellence.

The Men’s Boat Race was first raced in 1829 and is now one of the world’s oldest and most famous amateur sporting events, alongside The Women’s Boat Race, which first took place in 1927. For every student athlete in one of the eight crews competing, being part of The Boat Race is an unrivalled educational and athletic experience.
2025 will see the 170th Men’s Boat Race and the 79th Women’s Boat Race:
- 13.21 79th Women’s Boat Race
- 13.36 Women’s Reserve Race: Osiris v Blondie
- 13.51 Men’s Reserve Race: Isis v Goldie
